Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirement

Effective as of January, 2000

Thank you for your commitment to continuing education. Your ongoing learning not only enhances your career, it ultimately bolsters the entire industry as well. The CPD requirement provides evidence of your commitment to professional development, showing that you are keeping pace with the industry as it positions you for continued success in the future.
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program requires RPA, FMA, and SMA graduates to acquire 18 points of continuing education credit every three years in order to maintain active status of their designation. The three-year renewal period begins on the date that graduates attain their first Institute designation. Graduates who hold more than one Institute designation will still only be required to earn 18 CPD points every three years.
In addition to the point requirement, graduates will be responsible for payment of the annual $50.00 (in Canada $70 + GST/HST) CPD Administrative fee.
BOMI Institute offers a variety of ways to earn CPD points, so practicing professionals should not have difficulty meeting the CPD requirement. Credits can be earned through real estate license renewals, course credits, or industry experience such as publishing an article, presenting a paper, or belonging to a related trade association.
